Endoskeleton

An animal with a backbone and has its skeleton inside their body has a endoskeleton.

Some examples of animals that have an endoskeletons are:

  • Human

  • Cat

  • Mouse

  • Pigeon

  • Squirrel

Exoskeleton

An animal with its bones outside its body has an exoskeleton. For an example, a turtle shell is an exoskeleton because they are classed as a bone.

Some examples of animals that have an exoskeletons are:

  • Crab

  • Snail

  • Ant

  • Ladybird

  • Grasshopper

Hydrostatic skeleton

An animal with no bones at all, but do have a liquid within their body has a hydrostatic skeleton. They are more flexible than the over types of skeletons.

Some examples of animals that have a hydrostatic skeleton are:

  • Worm

  • Jellyfish

  • Slug

  • Starfish

  • Sea anemone

  • Squid
